The key to a great family session is to set your expectations REALLY low. Will the kids nap that day? Definitely not. Will your husband be excited for pictures? You make me laugh. Expect the worst and then you'll be nothing but pleasantly surprised. Okay kidding...kind of. My three top tips for family sessions are
Don't overthink it. The kids can SMELL stress and they never perform when you want them to. So stay chill.
Bring all the bribery. Seriously. Their favorite snacks, songs, the promise of ice cream after...whatever you think might work.
Keep dad happy. He needs snacks also. Keep him in the most comfortable clothes and don't make him venture too far out of his comfort zone.
